Highland Park Country Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Highland Park, Illinois.
Highland Park Country Club first opened in 1910. C.H. Alison and H.S. Colt redesigned the original holes in 1924, William B. Langford and Theodore Moreau later redesigned three holes in 1939, and Dick Nugent and Ken Killian remodeled five holes in 1977.
The well-manicured course is located on Chicago's scenic north shore. It was built on flat terrain, so it's easy to walk. The small greens are fast, and the tree-lined fairways are narrow. In addition, water hazards come into play on most holes, and numerous sand bunkers have been positioned on the fairways and around the greens.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,618 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,461 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 593 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 115 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, the 583-yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Highland Park Country Club is # 15, a 198 yard par-3. The signature hole is #11, another 198-yard, par 3, this one featuring a narrow green surrounded by water.
Course closed December 31, 2017.
The city and park district had been entangled in agreements involving the Highland Park Country Club property for more than two decades. The city purchased the club property in the early 1990s to prevent a residential development and preserve open space.
Golf course and banquet operations were transferred to the park district in 2015 in keeping with the terms of a 1996 agreement. But citing the imprudence of maintaining two public golf courses, the park board notified the city in the summer of 2017 of its intent to discontinue golf at the club.
Golf operations ended December 31, 2017.

A traditional American golf course municipally owned but course conditions are comparable to privately maintained clubs. The major drawback is the on course restroom facilities - port potties.

I have Golfed all over the world, , and this course is boring. Wasn't the best shape. There are so many great courses so why waste your time here unless you live next door which I dont. Friend brought me here. Pro Shop products a bit overpriced it seems.

Nice layout, usually in great shape but the pace of play here is terrible. The marshalls and other staff have been no help the couple times I've played there this summer. Groups were a full hole behind the group in front of them and nothing was done despite numerous phone calls to the pro shop. These groups were playing two balls on holes and playing from the back tees. There seeemed to be plenty of marshalls and other staff around, but nothing was done at all to speed up play. Nice course, solid price, good conditions but pace of play is an issue.

I love this course! It's very convenient to Chicago, is very well maintained for a public course, and has variety in the layout. It's a very walkable course as well. And the pro shop staff is great!

Hadn't played here in awhile. I forgot how nice it was. The layout is fun and the conditions were great. I'll be back.

This course is short but fairly difficult. The fully growned trees and water position makes this a tight layout. There aren't many holes I consider easy birdie holes especially the par fives.

A rough summer weather wise and this public course is in much better condition than most public courses in the area.
